Guestbook

We booked a weeks stay at Lilac cottage End September 2020.

What s Lovely and cosy cottage. Very clean and well looked after. It has everything you need and the wood burner certainly had some use!

The cottage is perfectly located within walking distance of the canal in Govilon. We spent many hours walking the canal either to Llanfoist, Abergavenny or towards Gilwern and beyond. We also walked the sugar loaf and the blorenge with our two little dogs in toe.

My family live near Abergavenny so I felt quite at home.

Looking forward to returning in 2021

Lana Weston,

Great little cottage, plenty big enough for family of 4 though would struggle with more. Really well equipped including local maps, walking books, lots of games. Spotlessly clean and the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in! Great communication from Carol with lots of ideas of things to do and rapid response to enquiries. Super tubing at Festival park was brilliant and cheap with Tesco's vouchers and the owl sanctuary next to the Super tubing was brilliant. The swimming pool near Festival park has a couple of great slides, is reasonably priced and is well worth a rainy day visit. Overall, other than the weather, a great place to stay and visit.

Caroline,

Just back from a wonderful couple of days at Lilac cottage.
Fantastic location, beautifully equipped and files full of great suggestions and ideas to help us explore the Brecon Beacons.
We climbed a mountain, went down a coal mine and found a series of wonderful waterfalls.
So much more left to do, will do that next time!

Mark Bradford,

What a find! Lilac Cottage is an oasis of calm and comfort in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. We recently hired the cottage for a 4-day break over the October half term and it was one of the most well-equipped homes from home that we’ve ever stayed in. Bravo Carol and Andy! So much to see and do in the area. Walking, cycling, gorge scrambling, horse riding, canoeing, I could go on and on. We had loads of fun, just not enough time to do everything we wanted to…which means a return visit is on the cards very soon!

Ruth McCammont,

We have just spent a wonderful week staying in Lilac Cottage with our children and my parents. The cottage is full of character and well equipped with lovely features such as the wood burning stove. The cottage is in a lovely location with views of Sugar Loaf and the Blorenge from the back garden. There is a great pub within walking distance. We founds loads to do in the area to suit all ages - we walked up Sugar Loaf and to the Punchbowl on the Blorenge which is an excellent spot for a picnic, cycled along the canal, stopping for ice creams at the visitor centre at Goytre Wharf, as well as visiting Raglan and Abergavenny castles, the Big Pit museum and the swimming pool at Ebbw Vale which has fantastic water slides. There is also lots of great mountain biking in the area and we hope to visit again to take advantage of this.

Helen Antram,

Lilac cottage is a beautiful, well equipped and characterful cottage located in the east of the Brecon Beacons close to Abergavenny. With many walks and cycle rides right from the door the cottage is perfect for those who enjoy the outdoors. There are many sites within a few minutes drive such as The Big Pit mining museum, Brecon, national cycle museum and Bike Park Wales. The cottage is stunning and airy as well as beautifully decorated and has everything that you might need to enjoy your stay.
